R-9546 RESOLUTION NUMBER ~ (CCS) (City Council Series) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT FUNDING FROM THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, DEPARTMENT OF CONSERVATION, DIVISION OF RECYCLING TO BE USED FOR BEVERAGE CONTAINER RECYCLING SERVICES AT BUSINESS ESTABLISHMENTS ON MAIN STREET FROM PICO BOULEVARD TO THE SOUTH CITY LIMITS WHEREAS, the people of the State of California have enacted the California Beverage Container Recycling and Litter Reduction Act ("Act") that provides funds to cities and counties for beverage container recycling and litter cleanup activities; and WHEREAS, the California Department of Conservation's Division of Recycling has been delegated the responsibility for administering the funds within the State required to be distributed to cities and counties under the Act; and WHEREAS, the City has been awarded $27,535 by the State to institute a beverage container recycling program for business establishments on Main Street from Pico Boulevard to the south City limits; and 4 WHEREAS, the City must submit a Funding Request Form by the due date and time in order to request funds awarded to the City by the Department of Conservation's Division of Recycling, NOW, THEREFORE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1, The City Council of the City of Santa Monica authorizes the City Manager to submit a Funding Request Form to the Department of Conservation's Division of Recycling in order to receive the funds awarded to the City under the Act. The City Manager is hereby authorized and empowered to execute in the name of the City of Santa Monica all necessary forms for the purposes of securing payments under the Act. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution, and henceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
