",_ RESOLUTION NUMBER 9535 (CCS) (City Council Series) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES TO CONSOLIDATE A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION CALLED FOR THE ELECTION OF BOARD MEMBERS OF THE SANTA MON!CA-MAL!8U UN!F!ED SCHOOL D!STR!CT WITH THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION OF THE CITY r"\r: Co^"'ITA FlAf"'\P\.III"'^ ^"'In \^JlTU TUr:: C'TATr::\^JIf""\r:: ~r::""I[::O^1 r::1 r::i"""TIr\'d VI v/"'\I.... 1/""\ IVlvl.....vn MI'ILI VVII r-l I r-u:: ~ 1M I I:: YV I LJI::. \,;H::I'U::~L.. 1::L..l::.v IIVI'\t TO BE HELD TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 7, 2000, PURSUANT TO ELECTIONS CODE SECTiON ;0403 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Monica has called a Special Municipal Election in the City of Santa Monica to be held on November 7,2000, for the purpose of electing three members to the Board of Education of the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District: and WHEREAS, on May 23, 2000, the City Council called a General Municipal Election in the City of Santa Monica to be held on November 7,2000: and WHEREAS, it is desirable that the Special Municipal Election be consolidated with the General Municipal Election and the statewide General Election all to be held on Nn"""rnn",r 7 ?()()(). tn",t \Alitnin tn"" (,it" nf ~"'nt", "Anni!"", ",nrl tn", ~"'nt", I\Anni,.",_I\A",linll .'1.......-.......-- " _............., .........", ........... ....._ _''':/ _. __...._ ''1''_'11'-''_ .....11_ ..._ __..._ '.''''''''11''''''''' 1'1'1.....11"''''' Unified School District, the precincts, polling places and election officers of the two elections be the same; that the Registrar of Voters canvass the returns of the Special Municipal Election; and that the statewide General Election, the Special Municipal 1 Election, and the General Municipal Election be held in all respects as if there were only one election, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCil OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOllOWS: SECTION 1. Pursuant to Elections Code Section 10403, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles is hereby requested to consent and agree to the consolidation of a Special Municipal Election with the General Municipal Election and the statewide General Election on Tuesday, November 7,2000, the purpose of the Special Municipal Election being to elect three members to the Board of Education of the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District. SECTION 2. The Registrar of Voters is hereby authorized to canvass the returns of the Special Municipal Election which it is hereby requested to consolidate with the General Municipal Election and statewide General Election and said elections shall be held in all respects as if there were only one election, and only one form of ballot shall be used. SECTION 3. The Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles is hereby requested to issue instructions to the Registrar of Voters to take any and all steps necessary for the holding of the consolidated election. SECTION 4. The City of Santa Monica recognizes that additional costs shall be incurred by the County of Los Angeles by reason of this consolidation and agrees to reimburse the County of Los Angeles for any such costs. 2 SECTION 5. The City Clerk is directed to transmit and file a certified copy of this Resolution with the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles and with the Registrar of Voters. SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
