RESOLUTION NO. 7654(CCS)

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
AUTHORIZING THE HOLDING OF A PARADE ON AUGUST 14, 1988, ON A
ROUTE OTHER THAN THE OFFICIAL CITY PARADE ROUTE
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 4241 of the Santa Monica
Municipal Code, the City Council may authorize a parade route as
set forth herein,
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That on August 14, 1988, between the hours of
9:30 a.m. and 12:00 noon, participants in the Festival of the
Chariots Parade are authorized to conduct a parade along the
following route:
The parade will start in Santa Monica in the beach parking
lot at the western terminus of Bay Street and proceed south
on the bike path to the Santa Monica city limits.
SECTION 2. permission to conduct the parade is granted upon
the following conditions:

a. Parade units will be brought to the staging area, the
beach parking lot at the western terminus of Bay street, prior to
9:30 a.m., Sunday, August 14, 1988.
b. The International Society for Krishna Consciousness
(ISKCON) shall:
1. Pay a clean up deposit of Five Hundred Dollars ($500)
prior to obtaining a permit for bikepath and parking lot
cleaning.
2. Provide insurance coverage in the amount of One
Million Dollars ($1,000,000) per individual occurrence naming the
City of Santa Monica as additional insured using the following
language.
"The city of Santa Monica, it's City Council, boards
and commissions, officers, agents, and employees
shall be named as additional insured."
3. Pay for the necessary number of police officers, as
recommended by the Santa Monica Police Department, for crowd and
traffic control along the parade route, at a cost estimated to be
approximately One Thousand Twenty Eight Dollars ($1,028).
4. Arrange and pay for access and use of the beach
parking lot located at the western terminus of Bay Street, and
access and use of the bikepath at the beach parking lot.
5. The event shall be approved by the city of Los
Angeles.

SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolution and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
