R-8130 E~-H I [3r1" B e e RESOLUTION NO. 8l30(CCS) (CITY COUNCIL SERIES) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR BICYCLE AND/OR PEDESTRIAN FUNDS UNDER SB 821 AND APPROVING THE INSTALLATION OF A BIKE LANE ON 4TH STREET BETWEEN WILSHIRE BOULEVARD AND SAN VICENTE BOULEVARD AND THE INSTALLATION OF PUBLIC BICYCLE STORAGE RACKS AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS IN THE CITY WHEREAS, SB 821 provides that 2% of each county's total local Transportation Fund be set aside annually and used to fund the development of bicycle and pedestrian facilities; and, WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica has planned to install a Class II bike lane on 4th Street between wilshire Boulevard and San vicente Boulevard, In conformance with the specifications of Caltrans' Planning and Design criteria for Bicycle Facilities in California and the Regional Transportation Plan; and, WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica has also planned to install bicycle storage racks at various public locations in the city, including the Civic Center, the Third Street Promenade, and Main Street; and, WHEREAS, the city of Santa Monica desires to install a Class II bike lane on its designated bicycle route plan and to install public bicycle lockers and racks using the funds available under BB 821, NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the city of Santa Monica does resolve as follows: SECTION 1. The city of Santa Monica agrees to install a Class II bicycle lane between wilshire Boulevard and San Vicente Boulevard in the city in conformance with SB 821 and shall comply e e with the specifications of Caltrans' Planning and Design Criteria for Bicycle Facilities in California and the Regional Transportation Plan in the construction of this bicycle lane. SECTION 2. The City of Santa Monica will install pUblic bicycle racks in various locations within the city, including the civic center, the Third street Promenade, and Main street. These bicycle racks will be available and open for use by the public 24 hours each day. SECTION 3. The City Manager is authorized to act on the city's behalf and to apply for and receive funds pursuant to SB 821. SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
