R-7946 ~ e e CARS:BFM:DM:BHM:RESll89 council Meeting:December 12, 1989 Santa Monica, California RESOLUTION NO. 7946(CCS) (City Council Series) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DESIGNATING THE BROWN PELICAN AS THE OFFICIAL BIRD OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA WHEREAS, it is proposed that the City of Santa Monica designate the Brown Pelican (Pelecanus occidental is) as the official bird of the City of Santa Monica, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION l. The City Council recognizes that the Brown Pelican is common along the California coastline from Baja to Santa Barbara a major portion of the year. SECTION 2. The City Council recognizes that the Brown Pelican is the subspecies occurring in this region. SECTION 3. The City Council recognizes that the Brown Pelican is almost exclusively a bird of marine habitats. SECTION 4. The city Council recognizes that the Brown Pelican is an endangered species found only in the Americas. - 1 - ... . e e SECTION 5.
