RESOLUTION NO. 8084(CCS)

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA ENDORSING PROPOSITION 128, THE ENVIRONMENTAL
PROTECTION ACT OF 1990.
WHEREAS, Californians should do everything possible to
protect ourselves and our children from those chemicals that
cause cancer and birth defects;
WHEREAS, Proposition 128 will phase out pesticides known
to cause cancer or birth defects;
WHEREAS, Proposition l28 will reduce gases and chemicals
that damage the ozone layer and cause global warming;
WHEREAS, Proposition 128 will protect the California
coast with tough clean water standards;
WHEREAS, Proposition 128 will prevent oil spills and
provide for their cleanup;
WHEREAS, Proposition 128 will protect old-growth
redwoods;
WHEREAS, Proposition 128 will create the office of
elected Environmental Advocate to enforce the state's
environmental laws;
WHEREAS, proposition 128 presents workable solutions to
these and other env~onmental problems facing ~ state of
California.
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of Santa
Monica endorses Proposition 128, the Environmental Protection Act
of 1990.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall
be in full force and effect.
