A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA SUPPORTING PROPOSITION B -- THE LOS
ANGELES COUNTY SAFE NEIGHBORHOOD PARKS, TREE-PLANTING,
GANG PREVENTION, SENIOR RECREATION, BEACHES AND WILDLIFE
ACT
WHEREAS, proposition B will provide $816,890,000
county-wide in general obligation bonds to protect coastal areas,
wildlife habitat, park lands and provide recreational
opportunities for the benefit of current and future generations
of Los Angeles County; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Monica
finds that natural and recreational areas are a vital and
necessary part of our community and help to preserve the quality
of life in the City of Santa Monica; and
WHEREAS, these lands are an essential and irreplaceable
part of our County's unique natural heritage and must be
preserved and restored; and
WHEREAS, the city of Santa Monica will receive
approximately $1,561,370 as a per capita grant for the city's
most pressing park and recreation needs; and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica will receive $3,000,000
for the Santa Monica Beaches which has been designated as
specific project b-2-W of this act; and

WHEREAS, the city of Santa Monica may compete for $50
million of grants allocated for tree-planting, trails, stream
restoration and historical resources programs throughout Los
Angeles County; and
WHEREAS, a county-wide and broad-based coalition of
conservation, park and recreation, civic and business groups has
been formed to seek the approval of the Los Angeles County Board
of Supervisors and the voters for Proposition B on the November,
1990 county ballot,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That the City Council of the City of Santa
Monica supports Proposition B, the Los Angeles County Safe
Neighborhood Parks, Tree-Planting, Gang Prevention, Senior
Recreation, Beaches and wildlife Act and encourages all other
cities in Los Angeles County to join in this effort.
SECTION 2: The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this ReSOlution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall
be in full force and effect.
