A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
ESTABLISHING PREMIUM
PAY FOR THREE CLERICAL
POSITIONS
WHEREAS, on January 23, 1983 the City Council approved a
reclaSSlfication of the City.s clerical series; and
WHEREAS, through the appeals process additional information
regarding the Staff Assistant IV who serves as Secretary to the Police
Chief, the Supervising Staff Assistant who serves as Secretary to the
Dlrector of Transportation and the Staff Assistant IV who serves as
Secretary to the Director of General Services; and
WHEREAS, due to the size and nature of those Departments, the
public contact functions of the Secretary to the Department Head are
of a sustained, sensitive and wide-ranging nature; and
WHEREAS, the abll~ty of these secretaries to act independently
and appropriately to resolve complaints and solve problems has a
significant effect on the Department's responsiveness and the degree
of citizen satisifact10n with City services;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1: The City Council does hereby authorize a premium pay
of $50 per month for the following positions:
Staff Assistant IV (Secretary to the Police Chief)
Supervising Staff Assistant (Secretary to the Director of
Transportation)
Staff Assistant IV (Secretary to the Director of General
Services)
SECTION 2: The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Resolution and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full
force and effect.
