CA:RMM:rmemerg9 City Counc1l Meeting 5-24-83 Santa Monica, California RESOLUTION NUMBER 6689(CCS) {City Council Ser1es} A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY WHEREAS, Municipal Code Section 2305 authorizes the Director of Emergency Services to proclaim the existence or threatened existence of a local emergency when the City of Santa Monica is affected or likely to be affected by a pub11C calamity and the City Council is not in session; and WHEREAS, commencing on January 27. 1983, conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen within the City of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tides, and heavy surf: and WHEREAS, the City Council was not in session on January 27, 1983: and WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Director of Efflergency services of the City of Santa Monica did proclaim the eX1stence of a local emergency within the City of Santa Monica: and WHEREAS, on February 1, 1983, the City Counc11 adopted Resolution Number 6621 (CCS), ratifying, confirming, and approving, the proclamat1on of local emergency by the Director of Emergency Services: and 1 ~ e . ~mEREAS, commencing on March 1, 1983, conditlons of extreme perll to the safety of persons and property have arisen within the City of Santa Monica caused by storm, high tides, and heavy surf: and WHEREAS, the Clty Council was not in session at the tiMe of condltions glving rise to the eroergency: and WHEREAS, on March 1, 1983, the Dlrector of Emergency Services of the City of Santa Monlca did proclaiM the existence of a local emergency within the City of Santa Monlca; and WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the City Councll adopted Resolution Number 6642 (CCS), ratifying, confirming, and approving, the proclamation Of local emergency by the Director of Emergency Services: and WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Section 8630, the City Council has revlewed the need to continue the local emergency, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclaimed by the Director of Emergency Services on January 27, 1983, shall be deemed to contlnue to exist in the City of Santa Monica until its termination is proclai~ed by the City Council of the City of Santa Monica. SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclaiMed by the Director of Emergency Services on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed to continue to exist in the City of Santa Monica until its termination is proclaimed by the City Councll of the City of Santa Monica. 2 e . SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolutlon, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
