A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, Munlcipal Code Section 2305 authorizes the
Dlrector of Emergency Services to proclaim the existence or
threatened existence of a local emergency when the City of Santa
Monica is affected or likely to be affected by a public calamity
and the Clty Councll 1S not in session: and
WHEREAS, corranenclng on January 27, 1983. conditlons of
extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arlsen
within the City of Santa Monlca caused by storm, high tldes, and
heavy surf: and
WHEREAS, the City Councll was not in session on January 27,
1983: and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Director of Emergency
SerVlces of the City of Santa Monica did proclalm the existence
of a local emergency wlthln the City of Santa Monica: and
WHEREAS, on February I, 1983. the Clty Council adopted
Resolution Number 6621 (CCS), ratlfY1.ng, conflrmlng, and
approvlng, the proclamation of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency Servlces: and

WHEREAS, comrnenclng on March 1, 1983, condltions of extreme
perl1 to the safety of persons and property have arisen within
the City of Santa Monlca caused by storm, hlgh tldes, and heavy
surf~ and
WHEREAS, the City CounC11 was not ln session at the time of
condltlons giving rise to the emergency~ and
WHEREAS, on March 1, 1983, the Director of Emergency
Services of the City of Santa Monlca did proclaim the existence
of a local emergency w~thin the Clty of Santa Monica~ and
WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the City Council adopted
Resol utlon Number 6642 (CCS), ra t1 fying, confirming, and
approvlng, the proclamation of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency Servlces~ and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Sectlon 8630, the City
Council has reviewed the need to continue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
Dlrector of Emergency Serv1ces on January 27, 1983, shall be
deemed to continue to exist 10 the C1ty of Santa Monica until 1ts
termination is proclaimed by the Cl ty Council of the Ci ty of
Santa Monica.
SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
Dlrector of Emergency Services on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed
to continue to eXlst ln the City of Santa Monica until its
terMlnatlon is proclalmed by the City Council of the Clty of
Santa Monica.

SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolut~on, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
