RESOLUTION NO. 6705(CC5)

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA AUTHORIZING THE HOLDING OF A
PARADE ON JULY 31, 1983, ON A ROUTE OTHER
THAN THE OFFICIAL CITY ROUTE
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 4241 of the Santa Monica
Mun1C1pal Code, the City Counc1l may authorize a parade route
different from the off1c1al Clty parade route set forth therein;
and
WHEREAS,
good
cause
has
been
shown
for the
author1zation of such a parade route on July 31, 1983;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOllOWS:
SECTION 1. That on July 31, 1983, between the hours of
12:00
noon
and
1:30
p.m. ,
part1cipants 1n the ISKCON
(Int~national Soc1ety for Krlshna Consciousness, Inc.) may and
are hereby authorized to conduct a parage along the follow1ng
route:
The parade will start in Santa Monica at the
Beach Parking Lot located at the western
terminus of Bay Street and proceed south,
along the beach bikepath from Bay Street to
Santa Monlca City 11mlts beyond.
SECTION 2. Permisslon to conduct the parade 1S granted
upon the folJowlng cond1tlons:

A. Floats and charlots will be brought to staging area
prlor to 6:00 a.m., Sunday, July 31, 1983.
B. ISKCON will provlde for clean-up of any anlmal
feces along the parade route and pay $150 prior to
obtalnlng

for street and parking lot
sweeplng.
C. ISKCON wlll hlre the necessary number of police
officers, as recommended by the Santa Monlca Police
Department for crowd and trafflc control along the
Santa Monica portlon of the parade route.
D. Access to the bikepath at the beach parklng lot
will be opened and closed at ISKCON1s expense.
E. The event shall be approved by the Clty of Los
Angeles.
F. ISKCON wlll take all possible steps to abate nOlse.
SECTION 3.
The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of thls resolution and thenceforth and thereafter the
same shall be in full force and effect.
