A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, Munlclpal Code Section 2305 authorlzes the
Dlrector of Emergency SerVlces to proclaim the existence or
threatened eXlstence of a local emergency when the City of Santa
Monlca 1S affected or likely to be affected by a publ1C calamity
and the City Council is not in session: and
WHEREAS, cOIIUUencing on January 27, 1983, conditions of
extreme perl1 to the safety of persons and property have arisen
wlthln the Clty of Santa Monlca caused by storm, h1gh tides, and
heavy surf; and
WHEREAS, the Clty Council was not in seSS10n on January 27,
1983; and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Director of Emergency
SerVlces of the Clty of Santa Monica dld proclaim the eXlstence
of a local emergency within the City of Santa Monica; and
.wHEREAS, on February 1, 1983, the Clty Council adopted
Reso1utlon Number 6621 (CCS), ratlfying, conflrming, and
approvlng, the proc1amatlon of local emergency by the Dlrector of
Emergency Services; and

WHEREAS, commenclng on March 1, 1983, condltlons of extreme
perl 1 to the safety of persons and property have arisen within
the C1ty of Santa Mon1ca caused by storm, high tides, and heavy
surf; and
WHEREAS, the City Counc11 was not in session at the time of
cond1tlons giving r1se to the emergency; and
WHEREAS, on March l, 1983, the Director of Emergency
SerVlces of the Clty of Santa Monica did proclalm the existence
of a local emergency w1thln the City of Santa Monlca; and
WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the City Counc i 1 adopt ed
Resolutlon Number 6642 (CCS), ratifying, conflrming, and
approvlng, the proclamatlon of local emergency by the Dlrector of
Emergency Services: and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Sectlon 8630, the City
Counc11 has revlewed the need to continue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
Dlrector of Emergency Services on January 27, 1983, shall be
deemed to contlnue to exist in the City of Santa Monica until lts
~errrl.lnatlon is proclalmed by the Clty Council of the City of
Santa Monlca.
SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclalmed by the
Director of Emergency Services on March 1, 1983, shall be dee~ed
to continue to exist ln the City of Santa Monica until its
terminatlon 1S proclaimed by the Cl ty Council of the Cl ty of
Santa Monica.

SECTION 3. The Clty Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
thlS Resolutlon, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
