A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, Municlpal Code Sectlon 2305 authorizes the
Dlrector of Emergency Services to proclaim the existence or
threatened eXlstence of a local emergency when the Clty of Santa
Monica is affected or llkely to be affected by a public calamlty
and the C1ty Councl1 is not ln session; and
WHEREAS, commenclng on January 27, 1983, conditions of
extreme perll to the safety of persons and property have arisen
within the city of Santa Monlca caused by storm, high tides, and
heavy surf: and
WHEREAS, the Clty Council was not ln session on January 27,
1983; and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the D1rector of Emergency
Servlces of the C1ty of Santa Monica did proclalm the eXlstence
of a local emergency w~th1n the city of Santa Monlca; and
WHEREAS, on February 1, 1983, the Cl ty Councll adopted
Resolutlon Number 6621 (CCS), ratifying, confirming, and
approving, the proclamatlon of local emergency by the Dlrector of
Emergency Services; and

WHEREAS, commenclng on March 1, 1983, conditions of extreme
per il to the safety of persons and property have arisen wi thin
the City of Santa Monlca caused by storm, hlgh tides, and heavy
surf; and
WHEREAS, the City Council was not in session at the time of
condit1ons giving rlse to the emergency: and
WHEREAS, on March 1, 1983, the Dlrector of Emergency
Services of the City of Santa Monlca did proclaim the existence
of a local emergency wlthln the City of Santa Monlca; and
WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the City Councl1 adopted
Resolutlon Number 6642 (CCS), ratifying, confirming, and
approving, the proclamation of local emergency by the Dlrector of
Emergency Services; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Section 8630, the City
Councl1 has reviewed the need to contlnue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
Director of Emergency Servlces on January 27, 1983, shall be
deemed to contlnue to exist in the C1ty of Santa Monlca untll lts
termlnation lS procla1med by the City Council of the City of
Santa Monica.
SECTION 2. The local emergency as proclaimed by the
Director of Emergency Servlces on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed
to contlnue to eXlst in the City of Santa Monica until its
terminat10n is proclaimed by the Cl ty Councll of the City of
Santa Monica.

SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certlfy to the adoption of
thlS Resolut1on, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
