A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, Munlclpal Code SectLon 2305 author1zes the
DlrecbOr of Emergency SerVLces to proclalm the eXlstence or
threatened eXlstence of a local emergency when the City of Santa
Monica lS affected or 11kely to be affected by a pubILc calam1ty
and the City Counel1 lS not ln seSSlon~ and
WHEREAS, commenclng on January 27, 1983, condlt1ons of
extreme perl1 to the safety of persons and property have arisen
wlthln the Clty of Santa Manlea caused by storm, hlgh t1des, and
heavy surf; and
WHEREAS, the C1ty Counc11 was not In seSSlon on January 27,
1983; and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Director of Emergency
SerV1ces of the Clty of Santa Monlca did proclalffi the eXlstence
of a local emergency wlthln the Clty of Santa Mon1ca~ and
WHEREAS, on February 1, 1983, the Clty Councll adopted
Resolutlon Number 6621 (CCS), ratlfying, conflrming, and
apprOVLng, the proclamation of local emergency by the Director of
Emergency Serv1ces; and

WHEREAS, commenc1ng on March 1, 1983, condit10ns of extreme

WHEREAS, the C1ty Counc1l was not in seSS10n at the t1me of
cond1t10ns g1v1ng r1se to the emergency; and
WHEREAS, on March I, 1983, the D~rector of Emergency
SerV2ces of the C1ty of Santa Mon~ca did procla1m the eX1stence
of a local emergency w~th1n the Clty of Santa Monlca; and
WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the City Counel.1 adopted
Resolut10n Number 6642 (CCS), rat1fYlng, conf1rm1ng, and
approv1ng, the proclamat1on of local emergency by the D1rector of
Emergency Serv1ces; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Bect10n 8630, the City
Counc1l has rev1ewed the need to cont1nue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
The local emergency as proclaimed by the
Dl.rector of Emergency Servl.ces on January 27, 1983, shall be
deemed to contl.nue to eX1st 10 the Cl.ty of Santa Mon1ca unt11 1ts

ternl.l.nat1on 15 procla1med by the Cl.ty Counc1l of the C1. ty of
Santa Mon1ca.
SECTION 2.
The local emergency as procla1.med by the
Dl.rector of Emergency SerVl.ces on March 1, 1983, shall be deemed
to cont1nue to exist 1.n the Cl.ty of Santa Mon~ca until 1tS
terml.nat1on 18 p:r-ocla~med by the Cl. ty Counc11 of the City of
Santa Manl-ca.

SECTION 3. The C1ty Clerk shall cert1fy to the adopt1on of
th1S Resolut1on, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
1n full force and effect.
