A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
EXTENDING THE PROVISIONS OF
THE MERIT PAY PLAN FOR DEPARTMENT HEAD
LEVEL STAFF APPOINTED BY THE CITY MANAGER TO
THOSE NON-SIGNATORY TO THE MEMORANDUM OF
UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE CITY AND
INDIVIDUAL MANAGEMENT EMPLOYEES &
TO OTHER STAPF MEMBERS WHO REPORT DIRECTLY TO
THE CITY MANAGER
WHEREAS, on June 22, 1982 the Clty Council formalized a merit pay plan for
Department Head level staff by approving a amendment to the Memorandum of
Understanding between the City and Indivldual Management Employees; and
WHEREAS, it was the intention of the City Council that all Department Head
level employees appointed by the City Manager be eligible for merit pay plan
participation: and
WHEREAS, from time to time new Department Head level staff members are
appointed by the City Manager, but are not signatory to the above referenced
Memorandum of Understanding; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager requires the ability to recognize other staff
members who report directly to him w~th a merit pay plan:

NOW,
THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council does hereby approve particlpation in the
merit pay plan for Department Head level staff members appointed by the C1ty
Manager who are not s~gnatory to the Memorandum of Understandlng between the
Clty and the Individual Management Employees and for other staff who report
directly to the City Manager.
SECTION 2: Participation in the merit pay plan as described in
SECTION 1 is granted retroactively to those Department Head level staff
members non-signatory, but employed in their current capacities as of June 30,
1982.
SECTION 3: The C1ty Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Resolution and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and
effect.
