A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE
CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, MunicIpal Code Section 2305 authorIzes the
DIrector of Emergency Services to proclaim the eXIstence or
threatened eXIstence of a local emergency when the City of Santa
Monica IS affected or likely to be affected by a publIC calamIty
and the C~ty CouncIl ~s not In session; and
WHEREAS, commencing at 12: 0 1 a. m.
on January 27, 1983,
condItions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property
have arIsen within the City of Santa MonIca caused by storm, high
tIdes, and heavy surf; and
WHEREAS, the City Council was not In seSSIon on January 27,
1983: and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Director of Emergency
SerVlces of the City of Santa MonIca did proclaIm the existence
of a local emergency wIthIn the CIty of Santa MonIca; and
WHEREAS, on February 1,1983, the CIty CouncIl adopted
Resolution Number 6621 (CCS), ratifying, confIrming, and
approvIng, the proclamatIon of local emergency by the DIrector of
Emergency Services: and

WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Sect~on 8630, the City
Counc1l has reviewed the need to cont1nue the local emergency,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
The local emergency as proclaImed by the
D~rector of Emergency ServIces shall be deemed to cont~nue to
eXlst In the CIty of Santa MonIca untIl Its terminatlon IS
proclaimed by the City Council of the City of Santa Monlca.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
