A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA WAIVING
COMPETITIVE BIDDING FOR CONSTRUCTION,
REPAIR, AND DEMOLITION WORK
ON SANTA MONICA PIER
WHEREAS, the Director of Emergency Serv lces on March 1,
1983, procla1med a local emergency to eXIst 1n the City of Santa
Monica; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Emergency Serv1ces on January 28,
1983, proclaimed a local emergency to eX1st 1n the C1ty of Santa
MonIca, whlch proclamat1on of emergency contInues in full force
and effect; and
WHEREAS, the conditlons gIving r1se to the proclamat1ons of
local emergency caused severe damage to Santa Monica P1er; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Emergency Serv1ces has concluded
that there 1S an urgent need to enter into a contract for
emergency construction, repair and demolItion work on Santa
Monica Pieri and
WHEREAS, the contruct1on, repair, and demolit1on work 1S of
urgent necessIty for the preservation of lIfe, health, and
property; and
WHEREAS, City Charter Section 608 authorlzes the waIvIng of
competitIve bIds for the reasons set forth in thIS resolution,

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
The City Council of the CIty of Santa MonIca
waives competItIve bIddIng for emergency construction, repair,
and demolIt1on work determIned necessary by the Director of
Emergency ServIces in an amount not to exceed $100,000. The CIty
Manager IS authorized to execute any and all contracts necessary
to secure such construction, repair, and demolItIon work.
SECTION 2. The CIty Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolution; and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
