A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF A
GRANT OF EASEMENT FOR CONSTRUCTION AND
MAINTENANCE OF ELECTRICAL TRANSFORMER
EQUIPMENT LOCATED AT 1685 MAIN STREET
WHEREAS,
Contract
No.
3854
(CCS)
provides for
construction of a new electrical power feeder to City Hall; and
WHEREAS, consistent with the contract, the Southern
California Edison Company requires a Grant of Easement for
construction and maintenance of Electrlcal Transformer equipment;
and
WHEREAS, in order to provide the required Transformer,
the use of public property is required; and
WHEREAS, Southern California Edison Company desires that
the City grant an easement for the use of the public property;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that an easement is of
direct beneflt to the City of Santa Monica,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. The grant of easement to Southern California
Edison Company is approved and the City Manager is authorized to
execute the Grant of Easement attached hereto as Exhibit A.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Resolution and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall
be in full force and effect.

A strip of land 10 feet in width lying within a portion of the
Rancho San Vicente y Santa Monica. as per map recorded in Book 3,
pages 30 and 31 of Patents, records of said County; the centerline
of said strip is described as follows:
Commencing at a point in the southwesterly line of Fourth Street,
as it now exists, that is thereon southeasterl~ 640 feet from the
centerline of Colorado Avenue; thence South 45 03' 44" West 152
feet to the TRUE POINT OF BEGINNING of this description; thence
continuing South 450 031 44" West 18 feet.
It is understood and agreed that the above description is approximate
only, it being the intention of the Grantor to grant an easement for
said systems as constructed. The centerline of the easement shall be
coincidental with the centerline of said systems as constructed in,
on, over, under, across and along the Grantorls property.
Grantor(s} agree(s) for themselves (h. self), thelf (h. . n) hens and assIgns, not to erect, place or
maintain, nor to permIt the ere chon, placement or mamtenance of any bLIIldmg, planter boxes, earth fill or
other structures except walls and fences on the above descrIbed real property. The Grantee, and Its con-
tractors, agents and employees, shall have the right to tnm or cut tree roots as may endanger or interfere
wlth said systems and shall have free aCLess to said systems and every part thereof, at all Urnes, for
the purpose of exercising the rights herem granted; provided, however, that In making any excavation on
saId property of the Grantor(s), the Grantee shall make the same in such manner as will cause the least
injury to the surface of the ground around such excavatIon, and shall replace the earth so removed by it
and restore the surface of the ground to as near the same condiuon as It was prior to such excavation as is
prac:ucable.
