CA:RMM:rmemerg9 C1ty Councl1 Meetlng 4-5-83 Santa Monlca, Callfornia RESOLUTION NUMBER 6658(CC5) (CIty CouncIl SerIes) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA PROCLAIMING THE CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF THE LOCAL EMERGENCY WHEREAS, MunicIpal Code SectIon 2305 authorizes the Director of Emergency Servlces to proclaim the eXl.stence or threatened existence of a local emergency when the CIty of Santa MonIca IS affected or likely to be affected by a public calamity and the City Council 1S not in session; and WHEREAS, commencing on January 27, 1983, condl.tions of extreme perIl to the safety of persons and property have arlsen wlth1n the City of Santa MonIca caused by storm, hl.gh tides, and heavy surf; and WHEREAS, the CIty CounCl1 was not in seSSIon on January 27, 1983; and WHEREAS, on January 27, 1983, the Dl.rector of Emergency SerVIces of the City of Santa Monica did proclaim the eXIstence of a local emergency withIn the CIty of Santa Monica; and WHEREAS, on February 1, 1983, the Ci ty Council adopted ResolutIon Number 6621 (CCS), ratIfying, confIrmIng, and approving; the proclamatlon of local emergency by the Director of Emergency ServIces; and 1 : e e WHEREAS, commencing on March I, 1983, conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have ar1sen within the City of Santa MonIca caused by storm, hIgh tides, and heavy surf; and WHEREAS, the City Council was not in session at the time of condItions glving rise to the emergency; and WHEREAS, on March I, 1983, the Director of Emergency Services of the City of Santa MonIca did proclaim the eX1stence of a local emergency within the CIty of Santa MonIca; and WHEREAS, on March 8, 1983, the C1.ty Counc1.l adopted ResolutIon Number 6642 (CCS), ratIfying, confirming, and approving, the proclamat1on of local emergency by the Director of Emergency SerVIces; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code SectIon 8630, the City CouncIl has rev1.ewed the need to continue the local emergency, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The local emergency as proclaImed by the Director of Emergency Services on January 27, 1983, shall be deemed to cont1.nue to eX1.st In the C1.ty of Santa Monica until 1.ts termIna t10n is proclauned by the C1 ty Counc i 1 of the City of Santa Mon1ca. SECTION 2. The local erne rgency as proc la ime d by the DIrector of Emergency SerVIces on March I, 1983, shall be deemed to cont1.nue to eXIst l.n the City of Santa Monica until its terrn1.natlon IS proclaimed by the Cl. ty Counc il of the Ci ty of Santa MonIca. 2 ., e e SECTION 3.
