RESOLUTIO~ KO: 6243 (CITY COUNCIL SERIES) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAKTA ~ONICA RECITING THE FACT OF THE ELECTION HELD IX SAID CITY OF SANTA MONICA ON THE 14TH DAY OF APRIL, 1981, AND ADOPTING THE STATEMENT OF RESULT OF VOTES CAST. WHEREAS, a general munIcIpal electIon was held and con- ducted In the CIty of Santa MonIca, the Santa Monica-Mallbu UnIfIed School District and Santa MonIca Community College District in Los Angeles County, State of CalIfornia, on Tuesday, the 14th day of April, 1981, as required by law; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA - ~ MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That there were 65 consolidated votIng precincts and that the total number of ballots cast was 28548 SECTION 2. That the following persons were elected me~bers of the CIty Council for four-year terms: KEN EDWARDS, DOLORES ~1. PRESS, DENKIS ZANE, and JA!\IES P. CO)JN. SECTION 3. That the following person was elected me~ber of the Rent Control Board for a four-year term" LESL IE LA~i1BERT. SECTIOK 4. That the following persons were elected members of the Board of EducatIon and GovernIng Board of the CommunIty College District for four-year ter~s: COKNIE J. JENKINS, MARY KAY K"~IATH, ILONA JO KATZ. SECTIO~ 5. That PropOSItIon A, relatIng to PolIce and Protective SerVIces was adopted. That Proposition B, relating to CrIme Control faIled to be adopted. That the absent voter ballots were canvassed by a board appOInted by the CIty Clerk as prOVIded for In the State of California Elections Code, and the official canvass was commenced by the City Clerk on April 14, 1981 and completed on AprIl -2~,1981, That the voting was done by Votomatic Machine Equipment in accord- ance WIth the prOVISIons of the State of CalIfornia ElectIons Code. PROPOS ITION "B": Shall the Ci ty Charter be amended to add Article XIX, relating to Crime Control, providing for an Increase of the CIty'S spending limit of approXINately $3,000,000 for each of the next four years and a reduction of the CIty property tax by 2~ for each $100 of assessed valuation? That Proposition A was adopted; PrOpOSItIon B failed to be adopted. That the follOWIng persons were elected to the offIce of Member of the City Council (full term): KEN EDWARDS, DOLORES M. PRESS, DENNIS ZANE, J~~ES P. CO~N. That the following named nerson was elected to the offIce of Member of the Rent Control Board (full term): LESLIE LAMBERT. That the following named persons were elected to the office of Member of the Board of Education and GovernIng Board of the Community College District (full term): CONNIE J. That the City Clerk shall immedIately make and delIver to each of such persons so elected a Certlficate of ElectIon signed by the City Clerk and duly authentlcated, that the Clty Clerk shall also administer to each person elected the Oath of Office prescrIbed in the State Constitution of the State of CalifornIa and shall have them subscribe thereto and file the same In the office of the CIty Clerk. Whereupon, each and all of saId persons so elected shall be Inducted into the respectIve office to which they have been elected. SECTION 8. That the City Clerk shall certIfy to the adoption of thIS Resolution.
