A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA COMMENDING CHERYL D. RHODEN FOR HER DEDICATED
SERVICE TO THE CITIZENS OF SANTA MONICA
WHEREAS~ CHERYL D. RHODEN was elected to the Santa Monica

Clty Council in November 1979 and has conscientiously served the citizens
of Santa Monica, and
WHEREAS, during her term in office, CHERYL RHODEN provided
leadership in developing legislation and programs to provide affordable

houslng for persons of low and moderate income, and
WHEREAS~ CHERYL RHODEN encouraged full public participation
in the Council process, and brought new perspectives never before
represented on the Council lncluding concerns about children, the handl-
capped~ and minorities, and
WHEREAS, because of her special interest in conservation and
environmental issues, CHERYL RHODEN created the Energy Task Force which
developed ordinances and guidelines for the use of solar energy as an
alternative for fossil fuels, and
WHEREAS, CHERYL RHODEN has shared her intelllgence, her humor,
and her commitment to social justice, and
WHEREAS, CHERYL RHODEN has chosen not to seek reelection and
is retiring from public office;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Santa Monica
does resolve as follows:
SECTION 1. CHERYL D. RHODEN is hereby commended for her
dedication to the citizens of Santa Monica.
