A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA IN SUPPORT OF THE PEOPLE OF
ATLANTA, GEORGIA
ymEREAS, continuing and cruel acts of violence are
being perpetrated on the children and parents of Atlanta, Georgia,
and
WlIEREAS, these acts of violence have resulted in the
murder of 27 Black children, and
WHEREAS, the inability of law enforcement agencies to
apprehend the killer or klllers has instilled fear among the
people of Atlanta, and
lqffEREAS, the unanswered murder of the children of Atlanta
represents a real threat to the peace and security of Americans
of all colors and natlonalities and from all cities and towns
across the Unlted States, and
WHEREAS, the killings, along with the rlse of the KIu
Klux Klan, signify a new wave of brutallty and murder against the
Black people of Amerlca, especially in the South,
NOW, THEREFORE, -TH~ CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:

1. -That in a show of suppott for the suffering people
of Atlanta, members of the City Council, along with the citizens

of Santa Monlca, wear green ribbons at all tlmes in public unt11
the situatlon in Atlanta is resolved.
2. That by a copy of this Resolution, the City Council
urge the presldent of the United States to take all necessary
aCtlOn to come to the aid of the people of Atlanta.
3. That by a copy of this Resolution, the City Council
send a message of support to the people of Atlanta.
4. The Clty Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolutlon, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall
be 1n full force and effect.
