R-6266 ~ e e ~~ CA:RMM:I Counc~l Meeting 5/l2/8l Santa Mon1ca, California RESOLUTION NO. 6266 (City Council Ser~es) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA FORMALIZING THE CREATION OF A CRIME PREVENTION TASK FORCE ~~IEREAS, on April l4, 1981, the voters approved Proposition A which requlres, among other th~ngs, that the City Councll adopt, by ordlnance, a comprehensive crime prevention program, and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to form a Crime Prevention Task Force to assist the City Council in preparing the plan required by Proposition A, and ~mEREAS, the City Counc~l created a Crime Prevention Task Force at ~ts April 221 1981 meet~ng and requested the City Attorney to prepare a resolut~on formalizing such creation, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That a Crime Prevention Task Force is hereby created consistlng of not less than l3 members to be appo~nted by the City Council, of whom at least e~ght will be members of the public w~th significant representation of existing neighborhood and community organizations involved in crime prevention programs, four will be from law enforcement agencies, including the Chief of Pol~ce or h~s designee and at least two l~ne officers from the Santa Monica Police Department, and one member of the City Council. ~ --~ ....... ~.#"' e A - > .-' > ., ". ~ -~ ~ SECTION 2. The Cr~me Prevention Task Force is directed to aSSlst the City Counc~l in preparatloQ.of a cr1~e prevention plan and shall make recommendations concerning the suaff1hg of the Police Department, methods of ~nvolving community organizations and utiliz~ng community outreach l.n crime prevent"iOIr,/ ~mproving: buildlng security and neighborhood lighting and any ordinances necessary for such lmprovement, l.~proving the efficiency of the Pol~ce Department and exist~ng facllities, and such other recommendat1ons as requested by the City Council. SECTION 3. Prior to making its recommendations, each member of the Crime Prevention Task Force wl.ll have participated in the Police Department's ride-along program and the Crime Prevention Task Force wlll have received publlC testlmony and input at one or more well-publ~cl.zed occasions. SECTION 4. The Crlme Prevention Task Force wl1l make ~ts reports and recommendations in accordance with the deadlines establlshed by the City Council. SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
