A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA HONORING
GOLDA AND SAUL LARKS ON THEIR 50TH
ANNIVERSARY
WHEREAS, Golda Gezuk was educated at the Un~versity of
Illlnols and at the Un~versity of North Carollna, and Saul Larks
was educated at the Unlversity of Illinois, and achleved a Master1s
Degree at Northwestern University and a Doctor of Philosophy degree
at UCLA; and
WHEREAS, Golda Gezuk and Saul Larks were marrled in Ch~cago,
Illinois on June 13th, 50 years ago, and are celebratlng the~r
anniversary at the Bel Alr Sands; and
WHEREAS, Golda and Saul Larks are the lovlnq and proud parents
of a daughter, Anita, who has a Doctor of Philosophy degree in
molecular biology, is an assistant professor at the University
of Southern California Medical School, is married to Glenn S~nger,
and is the mother Of Golda and Saul1s grandda~ghter, Rebecca; and
WHEREAS, Golda and Saul Larks are the loving and proud parents
of a son, Leonard Larks, an optometrist who worked ten years in the
space prqgram and designed space photographic instruments and is the
father of Golda and Saul ',s granddaughters, Karyn and Deena; and
WHEREAS, Golda and Saul Larks are long time res~dents of Santa
Mon1ca, and have unselfishly contr1buted many years of devoted
serv~ce to the commun~ty~ and

WHEREAS, both Golda and Saul were members of the Santa Monica
Democratlc Club, and served faithfully and well; and
WHEREAS, Golda and Saul Larks have been leaders in protecting
and promot~ng the rights of sen~or citizens, Golda having been
president of the local chapter of the American Associat1on of
Retired People and Saul having been Southern California Cha~rman
of the Californ~a Congress of Seniors; and
WHEREAS, Saul Larks was an assistant professor at UCLA from
1958 to 1961, professor at Marquette University from 1961 to 1966,
and professor at the Univers1ty of Missouri from 1966 until he
retired: and
WHEREAS, Saul Larks has made many outstanding contributions
to the fields of phYS10loqy and blOphysics, has had published
many books and papers, and developed the 1nstrumentation and
procedure for recording and lnterpreting fetal electrocardiograms
and 1S I1sted in world Who's Who in Science and American M~n of
SClence: and
WHEREAS, Saul Larks served in the Armed Forces in Japan
during World War II: and
WHEREAS, Golda Larks has been active in publlC health work
all her 11fe: she 1S a trained bacteriologist, she served
as research assistant at the University of Missouri and Marquette
Univers1ty, and as assistant professor at the College of Osteopathic
Physicians and Surgeons during the 1950's: she has had publications
in the area of bacteriology; and
WHEREAS, Golda Larks inspired and organized the Health Screen1ng
Clinic in Santa Monica, and has made many other valuable contributions
to the betterment of the health of the people of this City: and
WHEREAS, Saul Larks was appointed to Santa Monica's Commiss1on
on Older Amer1cans on August 28, 1973, has served faithfully and well

and lS still a member; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Mon~ca
desires to honor Golda and Saul Larks on this joyous occasion,
and commend them for their outstand~ng serv.ice,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MO~ICA
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE:
SECTION l. The City Council honors Golda and Saul Larks
upon the JOYous occasion of the 50th anniversary of their weddlng
and celebrates wlth them and their family their enduring and lovlng
marrlage and the growth of their distlnguished family, and wlshes
them many more happy anniversaries.
SECTION 2. The City Council commends Golda and Saul Larks
for thelr outstanding service to their community. country and
professional fields, and for their inspirational efforts on
behalf of senior citizens and for their dlstingu~shed achievements
in all thelr endeavors.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certlfy to the adoption
of thlS resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same
shall be in full force and effect.
