A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA IN SUPPORT OF SENATE
BILL NO. 358
WHEREAS, public llbrarles provide significant cultural,
educational, informat~on and recreation services to people of
all ages; and
WHEREAS, increasingly restricted local government revenues
are leading to reductions in public library services, and
WHEREAS, Senate B~ll No. 358 presents a feasible plan for
state and local sharing of the costs of such serVlces; and

vlliEREAS, it would be to the benefit of the citizens of the
City of Santa Monica and State of California to do so,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES HEP:~v RES6LVE AS FOLLOWS:

SHC~ION 1. That the Clty Council of the City of Santa
Monica supports Senate Bill No. 358, introduced by Senator Nielsen,
in order-that libraries may continue to provide the high level of
service which the people of th1s City have long supported and
continue to value.

SECTION 2. The Clty Clerk shall certify to the adoptlon
of this resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same
shall be ln full force and effect.
