A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA AUTHORIZING THE HOLDING OF A
PARADE ON AUGUST 16, 1981, ON A ROUTE OTHER
THAN THE OFFICIAL CITY ROUTE.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 4241 of the Santa Monica Municipal
Code, the City Council may authorize a parade route dlfferent from the
offic1al City parade route set forth therein; and,
WHEREAS, good cause has been shown for the authorization of such
a parade route on August 16, 1981;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA t10NICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That on August 16, 1981, between the hours of 12:00
o'clock noon and 1:30 p.m., participants in the ISKCON (International Society
for Krishna Consciousness, Inc.) may and are hereby authorized to conduct
a parade along the following route:
The parade will start in Santa Mon1ca at the
beach parking lot located at the Western
termlnus of Bay Street and proceed south,
along the beach bikepath from Bay Street to
Santa Mon1ca City limits beyond.
SECTION 2. Permission to conduct the parade is granted upon the
following conditions:
A. Floats and chariots wlll be brought to staging area prior
to 6:00 a.m., Sunday, August 16, 1981.
B. ISKCON will provide for clean-up of any an1mal feces along
the parade route.

C. ISKCON will hlre the necessary number of police
officers, as recommended by the Santa Monica
Police Department for crowd and traffic control
along the Santa Monlca portion of the parade
route.
D. Access to the blkepath at the beach parklng lot
will be opened and closed at ISKCON's expense.
E. The event shall be approved by the City of Los
Angeles.
F. ISKCON will take all possible steps to abate noise.
SECTION 3. The Clty Clerk shall certify to the adoptlon of this
resolutlon and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force
and effect.
