RESOLUTION NO. 6501(CCS)

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA INITIATING PROCEEDINGS FOR
THE FORMATION OF AN ASSESSMENT DISTRICT
PURSUANT TO THE LANDSCAPING AND LIGHTING ACT
OF 1972 TO BE KNOWN AS THE SANTA MONICA
CITYWIDE LIGHTING AND LANDSCAPING ASSESSMENT
DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Monica
desires to initiate proceedings pursuant to the provisions of the
Landscaplng and Lighting Act of 1972, Streets and Highways Code
Section 22500 et seq., for the formation of an assessment
district for the payment of all or part of the expenses of
servicing
and
maintaining public lighting and landscaping
facilities within the proposed district; and
WHEREAS, the Landscaping and Lighting Act of 1972
provides that proceedings may be initiated by resolution,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
Pursuant to Streets and Highways Code
Section 22585, the City Council of the City of Santa Monica
hereby initiates proceedings for the formation of an assessment
district in the City of Santa Monica for the maintenance and
servicing of those pUblic lighting and landscaping facilities

located within the proposed assessment district and to levy and
collect assessments to pay the costs thereof, all pursuant to the
Landscaping and Lighting Act of 1972. The maintenance and
servicing is to include, but not be limited to, the furnishing of
services and materials for the ordinary and usual maintenance~
operation, and servicing of public lighting and public
landscaping, the repair, removal or replacement of all or any
part of any public lighting or public landscaping, the provision
for the life, growth, healtht and beauty of public landscaping~
including cultivation, irrlgation, trimming, spraying,
fertilizing~ or treating for disease or injury, the removal of
trimmings, rubbish~ debris and other solid waste from public
landscaping~ the furnishing of electric current or energy, gas,
or other illuminating agent for any public lighting, and the
furnishing of water for the irrigation of any public landscaping.
SECTION 2. The proposed

The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this Resolution~ and thenceforth and thereafter the
same shall be in full force and effect.
