A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA SUPPORTING THE INSTALLATION
OF A MEDIAN BARRIER INSTALLATION ON PACIFIC
COAST HIGHWAY NORTH OF THE MCCLURE TUNNEL TO
BEACH PARKING LOT 7
WHEREAS, there have been numerous accidents caused by vehicle
drivers making U turns at the end of the present barrier; and
WHEREAS, these accidents have resulted in several deaths and
many injuries; and
WHEREAS, the residents realize their ingress and egress wlll
be affected but believe the inconvenience of the barrier wl1l be
minor compared to the loss of life and other problems caused by the
acci dents; and
WHEREAS, City Staff had reviewed the subject problem and concurs
the median barrler will reduce the potential for accidents;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the Clty Council supports the installation of
a median barrier on Pacific Coast Highway from north of the McClure
Tunnel to beach parkin lot 7~
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full
force and effect.
