RESOLUTION NO. 6536 (CCS)

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA AUTHORIZING THE HOLDING OF A
PARADE ON AUGUST 29, 1982, ON A ROUTE OTHER
THAN THE OFFICIAL CITY ROUTE
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 4241 of the Santa Monica
Municlpal Code, the City Council may authorize a parade route different
from the officlal Clty parade route set forth therein; and
WHEREAS, good cause has been shown for the authorization of
such a parade route on August 29, 1982;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That on August 29, 1982, between the hours of
12:00 noon and 1:30 P.M., particlpants in the ISKCON (International Society
for Krishna Consciousness, Inc.) may and are hereby authorlzed to conauct a
parade along the following route:
The parade will start in Santa Monica at the
Beach Parking Lot located at the Western termi-
nus of Bay Street and proceed south, along the
beach bikepath from Bay Street to Santa Monica
Clty limlts beyond.
SECTION 2. Permission to conduct the parade is granted upon
the following conditions:
A. Floats and charlots will be brought to staging
area prlor to 6:00 A.M., Sunday, August 29, 1982.
B. ISKCON will provide for clean-up of any animal
feces along the parade route and pay $150 prior
to obtalnlng permit for street and parking lot
sweeping.

C. ISKCON will hire the necessary number of
police officers~ as recommended by the
Santa Monica Police Department for crowd
and traffic control along the Santa Monica
portion of the parade route.
D. Access to the blkepath at the beach parking
lot will be opened and closed at ISKCON's
expense.
E. The event shall be approved by the Clty of
Los Angeles.
F. ISKCON will take all possible steps to abate
noise.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this resolution and thenceforth and thereafter tne same shall be in full
force and effect.
