A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA EXpRESSING
CONCERN REGARDING REDUCTIO~ OF FUNDING
FOR LOS ANGELES COUNTY HEALTH SERVICES
WHEREAS, the provision of health services is one of the
most vital functions of the Los Angeles County Government
and lS of critlcal importance to the lives and well being of
those persons unable to afford private medical care; and
WHEREAS, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors,
in adopting the 1981-82 county budget, drastically reduced
funding for health services to an extent which jeopardizes
the lives and health of numerous residents of Los Angeles
County, lncluding many persons who live and work in the City
of Santa Monica; and
WHEREAS, the Clty Council is deeply concerned tha~ unless
fund1ng is restored for the many health serV1ces which w1ll be
unable to be provided under the current budget, such services
will not be provided at all and the health of ~any reSldents in
the county will be adversely affected,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF TSE CITY OF SA~~A MONICA
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE:
SECTION 1. The City Council expresses 1tS deep concern
regarding the reduction in vital health services which will
result from the adoption of the 1981-82 Lps Angeles County Budget

and urges the Board of Supervisors to restore funding necessary
to provide adequate health care for all residents of Los Angeles
County.
SECTION 2. The City Council further urges the Board of
Supervisors to seek the aid of the federal and state_qpvernments
in urde~ to insure that vital health services are available-to
all residents of Los Angeles County.
SECTION 3. The Clty Clerk shall certi~y to the adoption of
this resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the s~me shall be
