RESOLUTION NO. 6394

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA ESTABLISHING
A PIER RESTORATION AND DEVELOPMENT TASK
FORCE
HHEREAS, the City purchased the Santa r10nica Pier in 1976 in a
state of disrepa1r; and
WHEREAS, maJor structural repairs are needed on pil1ngs and
buildings; and
WHEREAS, the State of Californla Coastal Conservancy has granted
the C1ty $30tOOO.OO to develop a design and funding plan ("restorat1Dn planll)
for the Pier restoration, and
WHEREAS~ the State of Californla Coastal Conservancy requires
public participation in development of the restoratlon plan,
NOW, THEREFORE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. There lS hereby established a P,er Restoration Task
Force to be composed of no less than nine (9) and no more than flfteen (15)
persons. Members of the P,er Restorat1on and Development Task Force shall be
residents of the City of Santa Monica or persons who do business or are employed
in the City of Santa Monlca. The P1er Restoration Task Force shall include at
least one pier lesseet one professional planner, and one architect. The Pier
Restoration Task Force will undertake to fulfill California Coastal Conservancy
requirements for the restoration plan and to explore pier development.
SECTION 2. The City Council shall appoint the members of the Pier

Restoration Task Force at its December 22nd, 1981 meeting. Cand1dates shall
apply on a City form submitted to the City Clerk no later than December II! 1981.
SECTION 3. The Mayor shall slgn and the C1ty Clerk shall attest
to the adoption of this Resolution, and thereforth and thereafter it sha11 be
in full force and effect.
