CITY COUNCIL SERIES
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA WAIVING FORMAL BID PROCEDURE JU~D
AUTHORIZING DIRECT NEGOTIATION FOR PURCHASE OF
BUS MAINTENANCE, PARTS, AND REPAIR SERVICES AT
THE TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, the Transportation maintenance division has been
engaged at overload capacity in an effort to keep the total fleet
safely operative, and,
WHEREAS, it has beco~e necessary to purchase parts and some of
the maintenance services normally completed "in-house", and
WHEREAS, these services are of such a nature as to be required
without delay.
WHEREAS, the Santa Monica Municipal Code is in the process of
revision regard~ng purchasing practices.
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The services are of urgent necessity for the
preservation of life, health, or property.
SECTION 2. Formal bidding process for the procurement of
needed bus maintenance parts and services is hereby waived until
June 30, 1982.
SECTION 3 That the City Manager is hereby authorized to
excute one or more purchase agreements for the maintenance and
repair services and parts for buses.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolut~on, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall
be in full force and effect.
