CITY COUNCIL SERIES
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
WAIVING FORMAL BIDDING PROCEDURES AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO PURCHASE A SELF-PROPELLED LIFT.
WHEREAS~ one of the City's lifts used ln tree trlmming is fourteen
years old and is no longer operable within prescribed safety limits and,
WHEREAS, it is economically infeasable to repair the lift to OSHA
Standards and,
WHEREAS, the rental agency for the rental lif~ will allow 75% of the
f1rst two months rental to be applied toward the purchase of the lift and,
WHEREAS, staff has informally canvassed six other vendors for similar
llfts 1n near-new cond1tion without the find1ng of any comparable equipment
available.
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The Council hereby finds that a need eX1sts for the
procurement of one lift for tree trimmlng purposes to ma1ntain a safe tree
tr1mming program.
SECTION 2. To formally advertise for bids would be of no avail and
cause unnecessary expense and delay.
SECTION 3. Formal blddlng is hereby wa1ved.
SECTION 4. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a contract
for the purchase of the lift currently being rented, applY1ng 75% of the rental
to the purchase price.
SECTION 5. The Clty Clerk shall certify to the adoptlon of th,S
resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force
and effect.
