A Resolutlon of the Clty Cauncll of
the Clty of Santa Monlca Authorlzlng
the Clty Manager to Inltlate a Study
af a Comprehenslve EcanomlC Development
Program.
WHEREAS, local governments are lncreaslngly dependent
on economlC development actlvltles as a source of revenue;
and
WHEREAS, a comprehensive economlC development
program 18 part1cularly slgn1flcant for Santa Mon1ca Slnce
the Clty has opportunltles unavallable to most c1tles wlth
equal populatlon and land area;
WHEREAS, Santa Monlca's economlC development actlvltles
are currently scattered among several Clty departments.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The Clty Cauncll of the City of Santa
Monlca authorlzes the Clty Manager to lnltlate a comprehenslve
study of economlC development oppartunltles.
SECTION 2. The study wlll Include an lnventory
of economlC development actlvltles, evaluatlon of stafflng
levels necessary to undertake a comprehenslve economlC
development program, and determlnatlon of program costs.
SECTION 3. The Clty Clerk shall certlfy to the
adoptlon of thlS resolutlon and thenceforth and thereafter
the same shall be ln full force and effect.
