RESOLUTION NO. 6424

A Resolution of the Clty Councll
of the City of Santa Monlca to
Contract with KCRW for Activation
of the Municlpal Access Channel
WHEREAS~ a municipal Access Channel is available for
use by the City of Santa Monica through Theta Cable TV, 2929
Nebraska Avenue! Santa Monica, Callfornia; and
WHEREAS, it wil1 benefIt Santa Monlca cltizens to
provide a visual community bu11etin board and audio broadcast
of VarIOus local government meetings via the municIpal access
channel; and
WHEREAS. KCRW Natlonal Public Radlo lS eliglble to
recelve a grant from the Foundation for Community SerV1ce
Televislon and has made a proposal to actlvate the municlpal
access channel for the above mentioned purpose;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.

SECTION 2.
The City Manager is directed to promote
the expertIse and capability of City Staff in the area of CATV
systems and technologies to realize the full potential of municipally
conducted CATV programming and operations.
SECTION 3
The CIty Manager w111 contact interested
commun1ty cable TV work groups for consultation and input 1n
use of Channel 0/28 and developing municipal involvement.
SECTION 4.
The City Manager will 1nitiate installation
of coaxial cable in City Hall for future direct data transmissions
and broadcasts via the municipal access channel.
SECTION 5.
That the Clty Clerk shall certlfy to the
adoption of this resolutIon and thenceforth and thereafter the
same shall be in full force and effect.
