A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA IN SUPPORT
OF THE PEOPLE'S SOLIDARITY MOVEMENT
IN POLAND
WHEREAS, the freedom loving people of Poland, through
the vehicle of the Solidarity Union, have expressed their
collective desires for greater human freedom and economic
democracy: and
WHEREAS, the people of Poland and the Solidarity Union
have valiantly struggled for personal and economic rights and
freedoms: and
WHEREAS, the Solidarity Movement in Poland ~s fighting
a difficult battle for the real participation of the Polish
people to determine the future of Poland, its economy and its
internat~onal relat~ons,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION l. The City Council expresses its strong sup-
port for the struggle of the Solidarity Union against the
forces of oppression.

SECTION 2. The City Council urges all nations to
recognize the r~ght of the Polish people to govern themselves
free from oppression and foreign intervention.
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
adopt~on of this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter
the same shall be ~n full force and effect.
