RESOLUTION NO. 5478
(CITY COUNCIL SERIES)
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
~ONICA COM~1ENDING FOm1ER ~IAYO? DONNA O'BRIEN SWINK FOR
HER MANY YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA.
WHEREAS, DONNA O'BRIEN SWI~K in Auvil 1973 was first elected by the
citizens of this city to the Santa Monica City Council for
a four year term, and in 1975, was selected to fill the
post of Mayor Pro Tempore, and
vrnEREAS, she was reelected in April 1977 by the electorate of Santa
~onica for an additional four year term as a council me~~er,
and
WHEREAS, sub8e~uently to her reelection as a council me~er, ber
colleagues expressed their confidence and trust in her ability
and integrity by naning her Mayor, and
1ffiEREAS, during her term as ~1ayor she served the citizens of this
cop~unity with great distinction and dedication, and actively
pursued a policy designed to enhance and stren~then citizen
confidence in municipal government, and
:dHEREAS, her service to the community was interrupted by serious ill~ess
which forced her resignation from the City Council on August 31,
1979,
NOW, THEREFORE, The City Council of the City of Santa ~onica does resolve
that DONNA O'SRIEN SWINK be conmended for her unselfish and
distingu1shed service to the comnunity as well as for her
exceptional dedication in the discharge of her duties and
resDonsibilities as a member or the City Council and as Mayor.

The City Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this
resolution to DONNA Of BRIEN SWINY.
:he City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution
and thenceforth and thereafter the sa~e shall be in full ~orce and effect.
