A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUKCIL OF THE CITY
OF SAKTA ~O~ICA WAIVIXG FURTHER FO~~AL BID
PROCEDURE AND AUTHORIZI~G DIRECT ~EGOTIATIO~
FOR PURCHASE OF WORD PROCESSI~G EQUIPMEKT.
WHEREAS, the City of Santa ~Ioni~a Data ProcessIng Dlvlsion
has a requlrement for word processlng equlp~ent; and
WHEREAS, the unlt must be compatable wIth the City's Hewlett-
Packard 3000 Computer; and
WHEREAS, thlS Editor-ScrIber word processing unit best meets
the needs of the Clty; and
WHEREAS, the Portland Oregon School District and State Con-
troller are presently using this Instrument; and
WHEREAS, the Clty has informally advertised for bids to sup-
ply this instrument; and
WHEREAS, to the best of Staff's knowledge only one company
can supply thlS instrument for existlng City computer; and
NOW, THEREFORE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SA~TA MO~ICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council finds that the requirement
eXlsts to purchase the word processing equlpment.
SECTIO~ 2. That the informal bId solicltatlon 15 suffIcient
search of the market and further bld sollcltation would cause un-
necessary expense and delay.

SECTION 3. That the City Manager lS hereby authorlzed to
execute a purchase agreement for this instrument.
SECTIOK 4. The Clty Clerk shall certify to the adoptlon of
this resolutIon, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
ln full force and effect.
