A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF AN APPLICATION FOR AN INNOVATIVE
GRANT FOR COMMUNITY ENERGY CONSERVATION SPONSORED BY THE
DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT
WHEREAS. the Department of Housing and Urban Development. with the
support of the Department of Energy, is inviting states and cities to apply
for grants for Community Energy Conservation Programs; and
WHEREAS, the program objective is to implement conservation strategies
which will achieve significant energy savings at the local level; and
WHEREAS, the grant could fund two projects in Santa Monica: 1) a
wind and wave generation facility on the pier, and 2) a hydroelectric generator
connected to the City water mains.
NOW, THEREFORE. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of Santa Monica
possesses legal authority to apply for the grant and to execute the proposed
prag ram.
SECTION 2. That the City Council authorizes the filing of the
application, including all understandings and assurances contained therein.
SECTION 3. That the City Council designate the City Manager as the
authorized representative of the City of Santa Monica to act in connection
with the application and to provide such additional information as may be
required.

SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force
and effect.
