A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DETERMINING THE AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITY FOR
INSPECTION OF CITY BRIDGES. INDEMNIFYING THE COUNTY OF
LOS ANGELES FOR SUCH INSPECTION, AND PROVIDING FOR PAYMENT
OF COSTS THEREOF.
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles did on
March 20, 1973. duly adopt a Resolution determining that. upon the concurrence
of a Clty. the County shall have the authority and responslbillty for the
inspection of all city bridges within said city; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of this City that inspectlons of
this Cityfs brldges be standardized in character and uniform in nature with
similar inspections of County bridges and of bridges in other citles within
the County.
NOW. THEREFORE. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. This City Council does hereby consent and concur that the
County of Los Angeles shall have the authority and responsibility for the
inspection of all City bridges wlthin Santa Monica as provided ln Section 1394
of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California.
SECTION 2. Notwithstanding the provisions of the Assumption of Liability
Agreement between the City and the County of Los Angeles, the City shall
indemnify. defend and hold harmless the County of Los Angeles, and its officers,
agents and employees from any 11abi1ity imposed for injury (as defined by
Government Code. Section 810.8) occurrlng by reason of any lnjury to persons
or property caused by or due to the failure of the County of Los Angeles to
properly perform its responsibility to inspect Cityfs bridges.

SECTION 3. The inspection of said bridges by County shall be at no
cost to the City of Santa Monica, but all such costs shall be borne by the
County of Los Angeles.
SECTION 4. The authority and responsibil1ty vested in County by this
Resolution, and the termination thereof. shall be in accordance with the
terms and conditlons of the Resolution of the County of Los Angeles, herein-
above referred to.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Resolution and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and
effect.
