A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
TO WAIVE FORMAL BIDDING REOUIREMENTS FOR THE PURCHASE AND
INSTALLATION OF DOMESTIC SOLAR WATER HEATERS FOR TWO CITY
OWNED HOUSES LOCATED AT THE ARCADIA WATER PLANT.
WHEREAS, installation of Domestlc Solar water heaters on two City
owned houses will promote the use of alternate ener9Y sources as well as
generate energy savlngs; and
WHEREAS, there ;s a direct relationshlp between quallty of materials
and future maintenance and parts replacement maklng the cost of a system less
important in the evaluation process; and
WHEREAS, it is staff's opinlon the contractor for this project should
be chosen for specific criteria not related to cost but related to type of system,
rellability and availability of technical asslstance, and
WHEREAS, Southwest Solar, Inc. of Inglewood, Californla, offers a
superior mechanical system, technical instruct10n to City crews and 1S certified
by a number of qua1ifY1ng organizations, and,
WHEREAS, Southwest Solar meets and exceeds all crlteria establ1shed by
staff for the selection of a solar system.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLO~S:
SECTION 1. That the City Council walve formal bidding procedures in order
to contract with Southwest Solar for solar water heaters.
SECTION 2. That the City Council authorize the City Manager to contract
wlth Southwest Solar for the installatlon of solar water heaters for the two Arcadla
Water Plant houses.

SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certlfy to the adoption of thlS
