CITY COUNCIL SERIES
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF TWO APPLICATIONS FOR
TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE GRANTS UNDER THE CALIFORNIA ENERGY
COMMISSION'S SCHOOLS AND HOSPITALS ENERGY CONSERVATION
PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica, under contract with ANCO
Engineers, has completed two Energy Audits on City Hall and the r.1ain
L 1 brary, and
WHEREAS, according to the terms of the Californ1a Energy Com-
mission1s Schools and Hospitals Energy Conservation Program, if a City
completes an Energy Audit it becomes el1gible for grants to pay for half
the cost of a Technical Assistance Audit, and
WHEREAS, a Technlcal Audit will identlfy the hlgh cost energy
consuming systems used in CtlY buildings which, if modif1ed, could
substantially reduce the City's utility costs, and
WHEREAS, estimates of the City's match1ng share of the grant is
$7,000 to pay for Engineering Consultant fees.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City Counc11 of the C1ty of Santa Monica
possesses legal authorlty to apply for the grant and to execute the proposed
program.
SECTION 2. That the City Council authorizes the fillng of the
application, including all understandings and assurances conta1ned therein.

SECTION 3.
That the City Council designate the City Manager as
the authorized representat1ve of the City of Santa Monica to act in connection
with the application and to prov1de such addit10nal 1nformat1on as may be
required.
SECTION 4. That the Clty Counc1l authorize the allocation of
$7,QOO from General Funds to cover the City's share of the audit expenses.
SECTION 5. That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full
force and effect.
