A RESOLUTION OF iHE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA ESTABLISHING
AN OFFICIAL CITY ROUTE FOR THE RUNNING
OF TEN KILOMETER AND MARATHON FOOT
RACES.
WHEREAS~ it is proposed that two (2) official ten kilometer (10 K)
race routes and one marathon running race route be established in the City
of Santa Monica; and,
WHEREAS, such routes will serve to establish standard costs
connected with the races and control location; and,
WHEREAS, such routes are in the public interest, and for the
benefit of the City of Santa Monica.
NOW, THEREFORE. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The ten kilometer (route A) race route shall begin
at Santa Monica College and continue in an easterly direction along PearT
Street to the intersection of 34th streett turning southerly along 34th
Street to the intersection of Ocean Park Boulevardt continuing in a
westerly direction on Ocean Park Boulevard to 14th Street, turning northerly
onto 14th street and continuing to the intersection of Pico Boulevards
turning easterly on Pica Boulevard and continuing to 30th Street, turning
southerly on 30th Street to Pearl Street and continuing in a westerly
d1rection to 16th Street, turning northerly on 16th Street to the Santa
Monica College stadium.
SECTION 2. The second ten kilometer (route B) race route shall
begin at the intersection of Alta Avenue and Ocean Avenue, continuing in a

southerly direction to Washington Avenue, turning in an easterly direction
to 4th Street, continuing in a northerly direction to the intersection of
Alta Avenue. turning in an easterly direction. continuing to 9th Street.
turning northerly and continuing to Carlyle Avenue. turning easterly on
Carlyle Avenue to 12th street, turning southerly and continuing on 12th
Street to Alta Avenue, turning easterly on Alta and continuing to 15th
Street. turning northerly on 15th Street to Marguerita Avenue, turning
easterly on Marguerita Avenue and continuing to 25th Street. turning
westerly on 25th Street and continuing to San Vicente Boulevard, turning
westerly on San Vicente Boulevard and continuing to Ocean Avenue. turning
southerly on Ocean Avenue and finishing at the intersection of Montana
and Ocean Avenue.
SECTION 3. The marathon (route C) race route shall begin
at the intersection of 17th Street and Pearl Street heading northerly on
Pearl Street and continuing to the intersection of 28th $treet~ turning
northerly on 28th Street. crossing Pica Boulevard and continuing on Stewart
Street to Exposition Boulevard~ turning northerly on Exposition Boulevard
to Centinela, northerly on Centinela to Olympic Boulevard~ westerly on
westerly on Olympic to 14th Street~ northerly on 14th Street to Carlyle
Avenue, easterly on Carlyle Avenue to 25th Street~ northerly on 25th Street
to San Vicente Boulevard, westerly on San Vicente Boulevard to Ocean Avenue~
southerly on Ocean Avenue to Washington Avenue, easterly on Washington
Avenue to 4th street~ northerly on 4th street to Marguerita Avenue, easterly
on Marguerita Avenue to 11th Street, southerly on 11th Street to Pearl Street,
easterly on Pearl Street to 14th Street. northerly on 14th Street to Grant,
easterly on Grant to the Santa Monica College Stadium and complete two (2)
loops.

SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
resolution and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force
and effect.
