A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES TO
CONSOLIDATE THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA'S
SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 6,
1979 WITH THE STATEWIDE SPECIAL
ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 6, 1979.
WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted a resolution
calling an election to be held on November 6, 1979, in the
City of Santa Monica, for the purpose of submitting to the
qualified electors of said City a proposition herelnafter
set forth and has ordered said election to be consolidated
w1th the statewlde special election to be held on November 6,
1979
NOW, THEREFORE, the Clty Council of the City of
Santa Monica does hereby resolve and determ1ne as follows:
SECTION 1. That the Board of Supervisors of the
County of Los Angeles be, and is hereby requested to consent
to and order the consol1dation of said election to be held
in the City of Santa Mon1ca on November 6, 1979 and called by
resolution adopted by the City Council with the statewide
special election to be held on November 6, 1979. The exact
form of the question or proposition to be voted upon at
sa1d elect10n as it shall appear upon the ballot 15 as follows.

PROPOSITIO~. Shall Article XVIII
of the Santa Monica Clty Charter,
providlng for a system of rent
control ~n the City of Santa
Monica, be amended?
SECTION 2. Said Board of Supervisors lS hereby
authorlzed to canvass the returns of sald City election
whIch is hereby requested to be consolldated with said
statewlde speclal election and said electlons shall be
held in all respects as it there were only one election
and only one form of ballot shall be used.
SECTION 3. Said Board of Supervisors is hereby
requested to issue lnstructions to the Registrar of Voters
to take any and all steps necessary to the holding of said
consolidated election.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk of the Clty of Santa
Monica is hereby directed to file certified caples of this
resolutlon wIth the Board of Supervisors of the County of
Los Angeles, with the Registrar of Voters of sa2d County,
and wlth the County Clerk of said County.
SECTION S. The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoptlon of thIS resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter
the same shall be in full force and effect.
