A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA REQUESTI~G THE
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF
LOS ANGELES TO CONSOLIDATE THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA'S SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE
HELD ON NOVEMBER 6, 1979 WITH THE STATE-
WIDE SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON
NOVEMBER 6, 1979 OR TN THE ALTERNATIVE
COOPERATE WITH THE CITY.
WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted a resolutlon call1ng
for an election to be held on November 6, 1979, in the City of
Santa ~onlca, for the purpose of submltting to the qualified
electors of sald City a proposition herelnafter set forth and
has ordered sald election to be consolidated with the statewide
special election to be held on November 6, 1979,
NOX, THEREFORE, the Clty Council of the City of Santa ~lonica
does hereby resolve and determlne as follows'
SECTIO~ 1. That the Board of Supervisors of the County of
Los Angeles be, and is hereby requested to consent to and order
the consolidatlon of said election to be held in the Clty of
Santa Monica on November 6, 1979 and called by resolutlon adopted
by the City council with the statewide special e1ectlon to be
held on November 6, 1979. The exact form of the question OT
proposltion to be voted upon at said election as lt shall appear
upon the ballot is as follows:

PROPOSITION. Shall Article XVIII
of the Santa MonIca City Charter,
providing for a system of rent
control, be amended?
SECTION 2. Sald Board of Supervisors is hereby authorlzed
to canvass the returns of said clty election which is hereby
requested to be consolidated with said statewide special election
and sald elections shal1 be held in all respects as if there
were only one election and only one form of ballot shall be used.
SECTIOK 3. Said Board of Supervlsors is hereby requested to
lssue instructlons to the Registrar of Voters to take any and all
steps necessary to the holdlng of said consolidated election. If
consolidation is prohibited by a Court of competent )uTlsdiction,
the City Clerk is authorized and directed to enlist the cooperation
of the County Registrar Recorder and such other County offices as may
be deemed
necessary toward the end of reduclng the expense and
administrative burden of the election.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk of the City of Santa Monlca is
hereby directed to file certifled copies of this resolution with
the Board of Supervlsors of the County of Los Angeles, with the
Registrar of Voters of said County, and with the County Clerk of
said County.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
if full force and effect.
