A RESOLUTIO~ OF THE CITY COU~CIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA RECITI~G fHE FACT OF A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELEC-
TION HELD I~ THE CITY OF S~~TA MONICA ON THE 6TH DAY OF KOVE~BER,
1979 AND ADOPTING THE STATEMENT OF RESULT OF VOTES CAST.
WHEREAS, a Special MunIcIpal Election was held in the City
of Santa Monica, Los Angeles County, in the State of California on
Tuesday, Kovember 6, 1979;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAXTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That there were 75 consolidated votIng precincts
and that the total number of ballots cast was 27,225.
SECTION 2. That the fOllowIng person was elected a member
of the City Council for an unexpired term endjng April 14, 1981:
CHERYL RHODEN
SECTION 3. That ProposItion Q, a proposed initIative
charter amendment amending the existing system of rent control in the
City of Santa Monica, was defeated.
SECTION 4. That the followIng statement of the results of
votes cast is to be entered into the minutes of the City Council meet-
Ing at which It lS accepted by adoption of thIS resolution:

hereby certify the following:
That at a Special Municipal Election held on November 6, 1979, as
provlded for by the Charter of the City of Santa Monica and the
ElectIon Code of the State of CalIfornIa, there were 75 establIshed
voting preCIncts established within the boundaries of the CIty of

Santa MonIca; that the absent voter ballots were canvassed by a
board appoInted by the Clty Clerk as provIded for In the State of
CalIfornia ElectIons Code; that the official election canvass was com-
menced by the CIty Clerk on November 8, 1979 and completed on
~ovember 9, 1979; ~hat the voting was done with round hole ballot
cards in accordance with the provISIons of the State of CalIfornIa
Elections Code; that there was a total of 27,225 ballots cast within
the City; that the follOWIng were candIdates for the office of CIty
Councilmember for an unexpIrec term ending AprIl 14, 1981;
