A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA NONlCA WAIVING COMPETITIVE
BID PROCEDURE AND AUTHORIZING PURCHASE
OF THREE VEHICLES FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, the Pollce Department of the Clty of Santa Monlca lS now
In the process of hlrlng and tralnlng Communlty Servlce Offlcers to allevlate
the report workload of patrol offlcersi and
WHEREAS, the vehlcles Whlch wlll be used by the Communlty Servlce
Offlcers are needed lmrnedlatelYi and
WHEREAS, purchaslng these vehlcles through the competltlve blddlng
process wlll create a serlOUS delay In obtalnlng these vehlcles, and wll1
result In a probable lncreased cost to the CltYi and
WHEREAS, the dlrect purchase of these vehlcles wlll avoid the
expense and delay of the competltlve bld procedure.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the purchase of these vehlcles would be advantageous
to the Pollce Department and the Clty.
SECTION 2. That purchaslng these vehicles dlrectly would result In
lower costs than those which IDlght be obtalned through the tlme-consUIDlng
cornpetltlve bld process.
SECTION 3. That competltlve bld procedure for thlS group of vehlcles
~s wal ved .
SECTION 4. That the Cl ty Hanager lS authorlzed to effect the
purchase of these vehlcles.
