A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA AUTHORIZING THE HOLDING OF A
PARADE ON AUGUST 17, 1980, ON A ROUTE OTHER
THAN THE OFFICIAL CITY ROUTE.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 4241 of the Santa Monica Municipal
Code, the City Council may authorize a parade route different from the
official City parade route set forth therein; and,
WHEREAS, good cause has been shown for the authorization of such
a parade route on August 17, 1980;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That on August 17, 1980, between the hours of 12:00
olclock noon and 1:30 p.m., partlclpants in the ISKCON (International Society
for Krishna Consciousness, Inc.) may and are hereby authorized to conduct
a parade along the following route:
The parade will start in Santa Monica at the
beach parking lot located at the Western
terminus of Bay Street and proceed south,
along the beach bikepath from Bay Street to
Santa Monica Clty limits and beyond.
SECTION 2. Permission to conduct the parade is granted upon the
following conditions:
A. Floats and chariots will be brought to staging area prior
to 6:00 a.m., Sunday, August 17,1980.
B. ISKeON will provlde for clean-up of any animal feces along
the parade route.

C. ISKCON will hire the necessary number of police
officers, as recommended by the Santa Monica
Police Department for crowd and traffic control
along the Santa Monica portion of the parade
route.
D. Access to the bikepath at the beach parking
lot will be opened and closed at ISKCON's
expense.
E. The event shall be approved by the City of
Los Angeles.
F. ISKCON w1ll take all possible steps to abate
noise.
G. If a substantial number of complaints are
received about this early morning activity,
the privilege of an alternate parade route
permit will not be extended 1n the future.
SECTION 3. The City ~lerk shall certify to the adoption of this
resolution and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force
and effect.
