A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA AUTHORIZING THE HOLDING OF A
PARADE ON AUGUST 24, 1980, ON A ROUTE OTHER
THAN THE OFFICIAL CITY ROUTE AMENDING RESOLUTION
NO . 6 0 5 7
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 4241 of the Santa Monica Municipal Code,
the City Councll may authorize a parade route different from the offlcial Clty
parade route set forth therein; and,
WHEREAS, good cause has been shown far the authorization of such a
parade route on August 24, 1980;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
RESOLVE AS FOllOWS'
SECTION 1. That on August 24, 1980, between the hours of 12:00 o'clock
noon and 1:30 p.m., partlcipants in the ISKCON (International Soclety for Krishna
Consclousness, Inc.) may and are hereby authorized to conduct a parade along the
followlng route:
The parade will start in Santa Monica at the
beach parking lot located at the Western
termlnus of Bay Street and proceed south,
along the beach bikepath from Bay Street to
Santa Monica Clty limlts and beyond.
SECTION 2. Permlssion to conduct the parade is granted upon the following
condltions:
A. Floats and chariots will be brought to staging area prior
to 6:00 a.m., Sunday, August 24, 1980.
B. ISKCON will provlde for clean-up of any anlmal feces along
the parade route.

c. ISKCON will hire the necessary number of police
officers, as recommended by the Santa Monica
Police Department for crowd and traffic control
along the Santa Monica portion of the parade
route.
D. Access to the bikepath at the beach parking
lot will be opened and closed at ISKCON's
expense.
E. The event shall be approved by the City of
Los Angeles.
F. >ISKCON will take all possible steps to abate
nOlse.
G. If a substantial number of complaints are received
about this early mornlng activity, the privllege
of an alternate parade route permit will not be
extended in the future.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
resolutlon and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force
and effect.
