RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF AN APPLICATION WITH
THE DEPART~ffiNT OF TRANSPORTATION, UNITED STATES OF A\lliRICA,
FOR A~ OPERATING GRANT UNDER SECTION 5 OF THE URBAN ~~SS
T~~~SPORTATION ACT OF 1964, AS .~IENDED
WHEREAS, the Secretary of Transportatlon lS authorized to make grants for mass
transportatlon proJects;
WHEREAS, the contract for financlal asslstance wl11 impose certain ob1igatlons
upon the applIcant, includIng the prOV1Slon by it of the local share of project
costs;
~rffiREAS, it lS requIred by the U. S. Department of Transportatlon In accord wlth
the provlslons of Title VI of the CiVIl Rights Act of 1964, that In connectlon
wlth the flllng of an applIcation for asslstance under the Urban Mass Transporta-
tlon Act of 1964, as amended, the Applicant gives an assurance that it will com-
ply with Title VI of the C1V1I Rlghts Act of 1964 and the U. S. Department of
Transportation requlrements thereunder; and
~~REAS, lt is the goal of the Applicant that mlTIOrlty buslness enterprlses be
uti11zed to the fullest extent posslb1e ln connectlon with thlS proJect, and
that definlte procedures shall be establlshed and administered to ensure that
mlnorlty businesses shall have the maximum feaslb1e opportunlty to compete for
contracts when procuring constructlon contracts, supplIes, equipment contracts,
or consultant and other serVlces:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Councll of the City of Santa Monlca
as follows:

That the City Manager lS authorized to execute and flle an
app11cation on behalf of the Santa Monlca ~fumlclpal Bus Lines
wlth the U. S. Department of Transportation, to ald ln the
flnancing of the translt operatlons for the 1981 Elsca1 year.
That the City Manager lS authorized to execute and fl1e wlth
such applicatlon an assurance or any other document requlred
by the U. S. Department of Transportation effectuatIng the
purposes of Title VI of the Civil Rlghts Act of 1964.
That the City Manager is authorized to furnish such addltlonal
lnforrnatlon as the U. S. Department of TransportatIon may re-
qUlre in connection wlth the app1icatlon or the proJect.
That the Clty Manager is authorized to set forth and execute
affirmatlve minorlty buslness po11cles In connection WIth any
of the proJectts procurement needs.
That the City Manager is authorlzed to execute grant contract
agreements on behalf of the Santa Monica Municipal Bus Llnes
wlth the U. S. Department of Transportation for ald 1n the
flnancing of the operating assistance projects.
